Key Stage 3 Assessments

Students in Years 7–9 will take part in Key Stage 3 assessments from Tuesday 6 January to Friday 30 January in core subjects across WeST secondary schools.
These assessments help us track progress and guide support, while also building student confidence. Resources, revision tips, and further information are available on our Assessments Portal.
To support students in preparing effectively for their upcoming assessments, we have created a short student-facing narrated presentation (approximately 6 minutes). This presentation is designed to help students understand how to revise effectively and where to find accurate information about the topics that will be assessed. The presentation covers:
- What effective revision looks like and how to avoid less effective habits
- How to structure revision time to maximise impact
- How students can identify the topics they need to revise for each subject
- Where to access subject-specific revision materials and guidance
Students are encouraged to watch the presentation independently and refer back to it as they plan and review their revision. Parents/carers may also find it helpful to watch, as it provides a clear overview of the approaches students are being encouraged to use in school.
