Sportsmark Award

In its policy statement, Sport: Raising the Game (produced in 1995), the Government sets out how it wishes to give specific recognition to those schools that have particularly good provision for physical education and sport. The Sportsmark award, operated by Sport England, has been developed to recognise quality physical education and school sport.

The school applied into the Sportsmark programme on February 1998. Our successful bid for Sportsmark validation was confirmed on 23rd March 1998 by a representative of the British Association of Advisers and Lecturers in PE.

We were awarded Sportsmark in May 1998 by Sport England. the award lasts for three years: in 2001 we reapplied and were again successful in achieving a Sportsmark award.
